“Are you weary from the battle you’re fighting?
Does it seem like the storm just won’t break?
Is there a mountain in front of you that doubt says will never move and you wonder if God will make a way?”
How many of you can relate to these questions asked in the first verse of the song, “Never A Time”?
I know I can! 🙋🏻♀️
As I have been reflecting on the events of 2019 in my life, I am reminded of the verse I wrote in my prayer journal in January.
Psalm 136:1 “O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.”
It wasn’t easy to read this verse, after I basically got dumped by a guy (who I was talking to for a couple months) during my birthday week. I honestly had trouble with that being the first and maybe last relationship I’d ever have with a guy.
Then recently I struggled once again with being content in my singleness. I wrote this a month ago.
“Dear Heavenly Father,
You know my thoughts, desires and longings. How I want my blog to grow. How I desire to write a book. How I long to live on my own. How I want to have a boyfriend relationship. And I know everything will happen in your perfect timing. But it’s not fair that Anna and Aimee get to live on their own and go wherever they please! I am trying to be happy for them but it’s just so hard. Then I have people asking about my living situation and it’s just so hard to talk about. Lord, I need You. I really do need Your help and strength in my life, because I know I can’t do anything without You. Please help me to be content in all things.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.”
There’s just something about typing or writing my prayers down that helps me feel better. I truly am happy for my sisters now. It just took some time to get used to.
When I first heard the song, “Never A Time” I, of course cried. The words to the chorus make you reflect back on your life.
“Well, tell me a time He’s not been faithful. Tell me a morning His mercies weren’t new. Tell me a moment He wasn’t able to carry you through. Tell me a day He was less than Almighty, when He could not roll back the tide. Child, when you look back you’re going to find there was never a time.”
I know for me as I read those words, I can point to several times where the Lord was faithful and there for me, even when I didn’t understand.
I’m sure you can point to times in your life as well. As I reflect on those moments, I am strengthened by the truth that if He was faithful in the past He’ll be faithful in the future. I hope this truth encourages you as well.
Never A Time
Verse 1
Are you weary from the battle you’re fighting?
Does it seem like the storm just won’t break?
Is there a mountain in front of you that doubt says will never move and you wonder if God will make a way?
Chorus
Well, tell me a time He’s not been faithful. Tell me a morning His mercies weren’t new. Tell me a moment He wasn’t able to carry you through. Tell me a day He was less than Almighty, when He could not roll back the tide. Child, when you look back you’re going to find there was never a time.
Verse 2
So be strong in the Lord and remember to take hold of faith and stand firm. Oh, you can be confident the Lord keeps His Promises, if you doubt, just read through His Word.
Chorus
And tell me a time He’s not been faithful. Tell me a morning His mercies weren’t new. Tell me a moment He wasn’t able to carry you through. Tell me a day He was less than Almighty, when He could not roll back the tide. Child, when you look back you’re going to find there was never a time.
Bridge
Oh, He can work miracles. Do the impossible. If you don’t believe it than go ahead and try. And tell me a time He’s not been faithful. Tell me a morning His mercies weren’t new. Tell me a moment He wasn’t able to carry you through. Tell me a day He was less than Almighty, when He could not roll back the tide. Child, when you look back you’re going to find there was never a time. Child, when you look back you’re going to find there was never a day He was less than Almighty, when He could not roll back the tide. Child, when you look back you’re going to find there was never a time. Never a time.
